December happenings

December play day: 12/1/18, hosted by Sabine and Wolfgang.

ATA Christmas party: Sunday, December 16 at 5:00pm, Sintra and Ruthven's home. ATA will provide meats and some drinks, everyone is asked to please bring a side dish. There will be a $10 tacky, yet nice gift.

League Tennis:
The SNM is having a Captain's meeting set for Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the NMSU Tennis Center for all interested for the 40 & Over and the 55 & Over Adult Leagues for the 2019 season.
If anyone is interested in playing on a Women's or Men's 40 and over league, now's the time to think about it, as the 40 and over will begin in January.  One can contact Allison Deputy altennis21@hotmail.com 


                                                           

 

November Happenings

November Play day, November 3^rd, was for Turkeys and was hosted by Lee and Diane.  5 courts were full of players and the Turkey winners were: Sky (1st), David (2nd), Petra (1st), Gail (2nd); Nori and Fred took home bug zappers for their scores.

Regarding the elections, there were only 3 nominees: Greg and Charles agreed to run for another term, Diane Gustafson was the only member who wished to run. Therefore, there was no election needed for the 3 board positions. Come January 1, 2019 Diane will be our newest board member.

November 5^th @ 5:30/6:00pm for the Birthday celebration will be at the Cloudcroft Brewery, (behind the High School).

ATA Tournament party and October birthday celebration

                                                                      

 

There will be a party held at the Magnuson Hotel, 1021 S White Sands Blvd, Alamogordo, Phone: (575) 437-2110 after Saturday's matches, let's say 6:00pm. We are welcome to use their pool as well, however no GLASS beverages allowed at their pool. ATA will provide beverages. This is a potluck for all ATA members. All out of town players playing in the tournament are welcome to this, and they "ARE NOT" required to bring anything. We will also be celebrating all the October birthdays.  Should you have any questions, please contact a board member.

Lodging:   One of our local hotels, MAGNUSON, is offering special rates to all tennis tournament players and families. One Queen bed for $55.25/night, two Queens for $73.10/night, one King for $62.90/night. All rooms are smoke free, free wifi, pool and free hot breakfast. Players need to call, 575-437-2110, mention the tournament and "advanced rate offered by Battina".  Players need to call by the tournament deadline, October 7, 2018.

2018 55 and over Sectionals

Congratulations to Gail, Diane, Janet & Joe for their ladies and men's 55 and over teams won their division and made it to Sectionals for the Southwest, held this past weekend in El Paso. I was fortunate enough to see tons of great tennis played by our folks as well as others. Next weekend Gail, Joe & Janet are off to Tucson for another Sectional's event, their 40 and over Mixed won their divisions. We also ran into a former ATA member at this event. Nice catching up with Laurie Frappier.
