May happenings

Well folks, our May exchange has been canceled due to the Corona Virus and NM's restrictions. Not much has been going on as far as ATA tennis. People are still going out to the courts and playing, however being very careful. Exercise is important to staying healthy.  Happy birthday to all the May babies. Happy Cinco de Mayo as well, perhaps we can celebrate April and May at a later date. Til then, be well everyone.

MARCH PLAY DAY

Great job Pat and Nori. 4 courts were filled with players on this beautiful Saturday morning. Winners were Laura and Sabine and Joe and our newest ATA member Braydon. Congratulations.

Tiger Tennis is going well so far, congratulations to Coach Powell and his team.

March Play day will be hosted by Pat and Nori Morgan, Saturday March 14th at 9:00am, after Play Day, eveyone is invited to the Morgan's for Nori's famous and delicious Gumbo and drinks. Address is 2001 Amber Skies, SPC 154 gate code will be *5678.

Also, Cathy has reserved Si Senor for Tuesday, March 17, 5:30pm for all the March birthday folk. Happy birthday. 

February happenings

What’s happening:  The Kidz Club will be held on Thursday’s. This month we are staring on 2/20, 4:00-5:30. The email address is: kidztennisalamo@gmail.com and info as well as pictures can be found on the alamogordotennis.blogspot.com.  
Play Day: Candace and Garrett are hosting Saturday's February 15th. It's a Valentine's themed play day. Cake will also be served courtesy of your board as there are many birthdays this month.
High School: Their tennis schedule is now online. February 29th is the first of their matches. NO courts will be available. Hope to see you there supporting Tiger Tennis. Birthday celebrations: Thank you Cathy Waggoner for making these arrangements. On February 25th at 5:30 we are gathering at Pizza 9 in the Mall to celebrate February birthdays. This is also a way to support Fred and the food court plus we can see where Marshall's is going. :)
NMSU Aggie Tennis: 2/22 Aggie women @ home vs. Southern Utah @ 2pm and 2/29 @ home vs Wyoming @ 12pm.

Valentine Play Day

Thanks to our Hosts' Candace and Garrett.  We had a beautiful February morning of tennis with 3 courts going, yummy breakfast burritos, fruit, doughnuts and birthday cake. The winners were John, Nell, Laura and ST  CONGRATULATIONS AND THANKS FOR COMING OUT.

January happenings

Evelyn and Janet's Kidz club will begin today, January 17th if the weather holds up. 4:00-5:30.  Evelyn is accepting donations for this semester ($10 which normally goes towards balls) for anyone who would like to make a donation. Reminder that ATA dues are due by January 31st, your dues can be given to any board member or mailed to ATA, PO Box 684, Alamogordo, NM 88311.

Play Day Hosts: We are in need of hosts for, May, Aug. Sept. Nov & Dec. Bernice said that February Valentine's theme (Candace and Garett), March (Patsy), April (Laura M) June and July are spoken for. Please contact Bernice If you’d like to host a play day, we greatly appreciate your help. 

Let's get playing:  Tennis leagues are just around the corner.  If you are interested in playing on a team, captaining a team, please contact Allison Deputy at deputy@southwest.usta.com.  It would be so great if Alamogordo could put their own team together, captaining isn't that difficult, I find that putting a line-up out is the toughest part. If not for the men's or women's leagues, perhaps we could put a mixed doubles team together??? I'd captain one if I had the players willing to commit. 

Tennis exchanges: Yes, we plan on continuing with this. We know that Alto exchange (August) is always fun, so why not bring back the I-70 exchange. If interested in helping with these exchanges, please let Janet or Sintra know. 

Charles and the H.S. tennis players are now practicing 5 days a week, 4:00-6:00.  January 24th and 25th a clinic will take place for the H.S. students by a tennis Pro from Canada. For more information, contact Coach Powell.  All ATA members are welcome to come and watch.
