42nd Annual Alamogordo Open Tournament

Weather was terrific for ATA 2017 fall tournament.. Although the draw was small,  tennis was excellent with players traveling from Las Cruces, Albuquerque, El Paso, and Amarillo.  Many  enjoyed a nice evening and buffet at the 19^th Hole restaurant Saturday night.  Huge thanks to Linda Gilliland, tournament director, and Nell Nicholson, tournament referee.  Special thanks to Greg Richardson for obtaining and organizing all tournament donations.  This was the first year that ATA offered cash prizes in a tournament, which was well received.  Also thanks to everyone who helped set up and clean up the courts before and after play each day, and to everyone who supported and played in this tournament.

September Play Day

Twenty players showed up for September play day, but the rain showed up too!  So players just huddled under the canopy for a delicious breakfast.  Three courts of players came out the next day to play for prizes.  Thanks to Janet and Joe for hosting this fun play day!

SW Sectional Competition

Congratulations to ATA members who competed in El Paso in September.  Diane and Gail’s 55 & over team were finalists and could be the wild card to compete in Nationals.  Joe’s 7.0 men’s team won the Sectionals and will be traveling to compete at Nationals in Orlando in November.  

Congrats to all for such good results!

Roadrunner 14 & under Tournament

Thanks to Jamie and Janet for their efforts organizing Roadrunner 14 & under tennis tournament & to all who pitched in to help out!!!   Special thanks to Ron and Greg for putting up and taking down sun shades and to all the Friends of the Courts: Greg & Gail, Joe, Patsy, Grady (also our referee), Jacquie, John, and Evelyn.  Also thanks to Mitch who come from Las Cruces to do warm up exercises.  Nearly 20 kids came from all over the state to play in this tournament, and we saw some terrific tennis from these kids!
